A new President elected to FFGS (French Ice Sports Federation)

This is where we discuss figure skating and skating related items. How did you favourite skaters perform, and so on? However we never speculate on the private lives of skaters, like who might be going out with whom, because that is poison and is not tolerated here. A good guideline is that if it's not publicly announced, in the papers etc. then it's probably best to leave it alone. Is it a gray area? Then write to me and ask.

A new President elected to FFGS (French Ice Sports Federation)

Post by Elizabeth »

Some of you may remember that the long time President, the infamous Didier Gailhaguet, was forced out two years into his most recent four year term at FFGS.

Former ice dancer, Natalie Péchalat, was elected to replace him, finishing out the final two years of his term. She represented the FFGS at the recent ISU meetings in Thailand.

A new election has now been held and, by a 52 to 48% margin, Natalie has been replaced by Gwenaëlle Gigarel-Noury.

There is a lot of "talk" about how Didier promoted Gwenaëlle, visiting the many clubs around the country, criticizing Natalie and promoting "his" candidate. There is a lot of concern over things sliding back, after changes and improvements that had been made. Some folks are referring to Didier as a puppet master.

I guess we will see how things evolve...
