Good for her stating the complete truth to stave of the rumour mill. Wishing her a speedy recovery.

Oh no, that's horrible, but I'm so glad it was caught early. How shocking for someone so young! Prayers from me as well!

An update from Maia on Instagram:
I got my pathology report back - the tumor that was successfully removed on Saturday was unfortunately malignant (cancer). (SDH)-deficient renal cell carcinoma. This wasn’t the news I was hoping for, but I am beyond thankful that it was detected early and that my surgery went well. No further treatment is required at this time - the next steps are for me to continue focusing on recovering and healing. All of the positive thoughts and support mean so much to me. My heart is so full. Thank you.

It is so sad for a young woman to be dealing with such a horrible illness. I'm glad to see she's in good spirits considering, and that they caught it early. The fact that she doesn't require further treatment, is extremely good news. It must mean the cancer was contained in some way and they feel they removed all the cancerous cells. My prayers for her, especially during the holiday season.
