2019 BC SummerSkate - Aug. 15-18 and an associated tragic accident

This is where we discuss figure skating and skating related items. How did you favourite skaters perform, and so on? However we never speculate on the private lives of skaters, like who might be going out with whom, because that is poison and is not tolerated here. A good guideline is that if it's not publicly announced, in the papers etc. then it's probably best to leave it alone. Is it a gray area? Then write to me and ask.

For those wondering about the connection to this thread, Saskatchewan skater Alanna Liu and her parents were returning from her participation in the BC SummerSkate when they were involved in a fiery automobile crash in Southern Alberta a week ago. It involved 3 semis and 7 passenger vehicles. Her parents were two of the three individuals killed. Alanna was among those injured.

The post on Facebook from Skate Canada - Saskatchewan referenced in the article:
A Tragedy in our Skating Community

The entire skating community is in mourning as we learn about the tragic vehicle accident in Southern Alberta that claimed the lives of three people and injured many more including members of the figure skating community. Saskatchewan skater Alanna Liu was involved in the accident and is currently being treated in hospital for her injuries. Sadly, her parents who were traveling home with her from the BC SummerSkate competition have passed away. Skate Canada and Skate Canada Saskatchewan are heartbroken and grieve with those who have lost loved ones in this horrible accident and our thoughts are with Alanna and her family and friends, and all those affected as they cope with this tragedy.

We ask that you respect Alanna’s privacy as she works through the loss of her parents. Further details will be made available through the Section Office.
