With the withdrawal of Stephen Gogolev (replaced by Andrew Torgashev), there are no CDN skaters assigned to this GP.

For several of those competing it will be their 2nd event and last chance to qualify for the Grand Prix Final (GPF), for others it will be their first GP of this season.

During the Gala, at the end of the first half, the members of Japan's team from the Beijing Olympics, who finally received their silver medals during the Paris (Summer) Olympics were celebrated (wearing their Olympic costumes)
