I came across this article about Kathy Roach on CBC this morning. I've heard the name but didn't remember anything about her. She is certainly an impressive individual.

Thanks so much...that was most interesting! I the only black skater I saw when I was young was Surya Bonaly, I believe. Later Asher Hlll came on the scene and his brother as well I believe. Whistles...asking someone to cut their hair...very dicey indeed at the best of times. Skaters need to be who they ARE on the ice and I appreciate those who battled it out and found their own niche in the sport...doing music and wearing clothes that they like! I'd forgotten that Elijah is married!
