Scott & Tessa named Members of the Order of Canada

An announcement was made by the Governor General today of 114 new appointees of the Order of Canada, which include 8 Companions (C.C.), 21 Officers (O.C.), 1 Honorary Member (C.M.), and 84 Members (C.M.). Each recipient will be invited to accept their insignia at a ceremony to be held at a later date.

Among the new Members were Scott Moir, C.M. and Tessa Virtue, C.M. - each named for unparalleled excellence in ice dancing and for inspiring the next generation of Canadian figure skaters.

Feeling all wrapped up in emotion ...

Upon learning about being invested into the Order of Canada, I couldn’t help but think that as a kid, I would have never known to dream so big. Scott and I were always so proud to represent our country, and today, I reflect upon just how lucky we are.

I am humbled by this honour!

Although the announcement about Tessa and Scott being named to the Order of Canada was made in November 2020, the actual investiture ceremony will take place at Rideau Hall tomorrow (14 December 2022). One of my childhood friends from growing up in Nova Scotia will also be invested tomorrow
