Thank you Elizabeth for all the info and photos. Now that you’re safely home, and once you’ve had a good night’s sleep, I’d love to have your comments. Wishing I’d been present for a few of those skates.
It was great to be back at a live event and it was obvious that the skaters enjoyed having fans present.
I was a bit disappointed in some of the skates but realized that it is early in a post-Olympic season.
Some skaters performed pretty much as I expected while others exceeded expectations.
Being a long-time ice dance fan, I particularly enjoyed that part of the competition, especially the new programs from Piper and Paul
Given her recent injury and their short period of training, I was overjoyed at the success of the Japanese pairs.
It was nice to see a wide variety of countries represented and many folks commented that we weren't missing the Russians whose presence would have prevented some of those others from being invited.
We were not impressed by the original placement of the many national flags, however, and very happy when they were moved between the first and second day of competition, as I posted about already
I have added in links to the CBC streams of each of the events in my original (late night/early morning) posts above. I haven't (yet) watched any of them to hear any commentary and I didn't record any of the TV coverage.
