ISU Junior Grand Prix 2022-2023 - event #3 - Riga, LAT - Sep. 6-10

This is where we discuss figure skating and skating related items. How did you favourite skaters perform, and so on? However we never speculate on the private lives of skaters, like who might be going out with whom, because that is poison and is not tolerated here. A good guideline is that if it's not publicly announced, in the papers etc. then it's probably best to leave it alone. Is it a gray area? Then write to me and ask.

For event #3 we will have both commentators back but Ted will be "working from home" in BC while Mark will be in the arena in Riga. The event will be live streamed from the ISU JGP YouTube channel - the links by individual competitions are not yet posted: https://www.youtube.com/c/isujuniorgrandprix

The time and practice schedule: http://results.isu.org/schedules/jgplat ... hedule.pdf

Competition will take place on Thursday, Friday Saturday and we will have all four disciplines again this week.

Riga, Latvia is 7 hours ahead of EDT

The Entries/Start Orders/Results link should appear in a few days here: https://results.isu.org/events/fsevent00113500.htm

The ISU JGP YouTube page has been updated with the links for the individual parts of the competition in Riga: https://www.youtube.com/c/isujuniorgrandprix

You should see you local time, rather than the Riga time, beneath each of them - a lot of early mornings for those of us in EDT!!

Two nice guys having a chat in Riga - Mark Hanretty posted this photo saying:
Former world champion, 2x Olympic medalist and coaching legend.
Also incredibly humble! 👏🏻⭐️🤩

During the broadcast, word came out about the death of Queen Elizabeth II - both Ted and Mark honoured her in short remarks :( The end of an era.

The next event is the Pairs FS - a field of only 6 teams means that 1/2 of them will stand on the medal podium later today.

There was a small but very boisterous group of "fans" cheering on the CDN teams today - their fellow team members representing our country were bedecked in the red & white :D

The top three will result in more celebrations, I'm sure

The third & final event for today - the Junior Women FS. The Start Orders/Results: http://www.isuresults.com/results/seaso ... SEG004.htm

The live stream: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KenRq9l9D4E

The overall results: http://www.isuresults.com/results/seaso ... T002RS.htm

In achieving personal best scores in both the SP and the FS (and with a little help from other skaters), our Canadian skater Justine Miclette moved herself up from 11th after the SP to 8th overall. An excellent debut on the JGP.
