2018 Skate Canada Challenge - precursor to nationals

The Skate Canada Challenge event, to determine who will compete at Canadians in addition to those who already have "byes", will take place in Laval, QC from Nov. 29 through Dec. 3, 2017. Some skaters who already have "byes" may choose to skate in the Challenge to get some more feedback from the judges on their programs.

For the pre-novice skaters, this is their championship. The novice, junior and senior skaters who qualify will proceed to Vancouver in January.

I watched the senior men's short on the live stream this evening.

I saw that, as mentioned by PJ Kwong in her Facebook live broadcast last evening, Nam Nguyen has yet another new coach - he's now with Robert Burk, Michelle Long's coach. Robert was at the boards/with him in the kiss 'n cry at Challenge.

Nam has a "bye" to Nationals but chose to skate at Challenge, even though he was just at Skate America last weekend (with Tracy Wainman).

It seems to me that skaters who change coaches frequently don't really do that well in the end.
