Positive results entering in Worlds "bubble"

This is where we discuss figure skating and skating related items. How did you favourite skaters perform, and so on? However we never speculate on the private lives of skaters, like who might be going out with whom, because that is poison and is not tolerated here. A good guideline is that if it's not publicly announced, in the papers etc. then it's probably best to leave it alone. Is it a gray area? Then write to me and ask.

Positive results entering in Worlds "bubble"

Post by Elizabeth »

One positive result has been reported by the ISU of those on-site for the Worlds - they are in quarantine and appropriate measures are being taken for close contacts. Identity not being revealed.

I had a bad feeling when they didn't bring the competitors, etc. in early enough to check and double-check before the practices began. Most skaters arrived on March 20th or 21st as the organizers/ISU wouldn't pay for earlier arrival in terms of rooms, meals, etc.

Here's hoping everyone else remains safe & well!!

UPDATE: It has been confirmed by the Ministry of Sports of Belarus that Viktoriia Safonova was the athlete to test positive upon arrival at Worlds.

Let's keep our fingers crossed that all goes well, especially for our Canadian team.

Heartbreaking news on the third positive test - it was ice dancer Simon Proulx-Sénécal who represents Armenia with Tina Garabedian. They had to withdraw from the competition; unfortunately the test turned out to be a false positive.

They will have an opportunity to compete at Nebelhorn to try to get an Olympic spot.

An article, in French, about the situation as they described it: https://www.journaldequebec.com/2021/03 ... negligence
