RIP Gord Downie 1964-2017

This is where we discuss figure skating and skating related items. How did you favourite skaters perform, and so on? However we never speculate on the private lives of skaters, like who might be going out with whom, because that is poison and is not tolerated here. A good guideline is that if it's not publicly announced, in the papers etc. then it's probably best to leave it alone. Is it a gray area? Then write to me and ask.

RIP Gord Downie 1964-2017

Gord will be remembered in many, many ways - as part of the Tragically Hip and on his own; as a singer and as a fighter for social justice. One achievement that is connected to skating involves Kurt Browning and "Antares". Here's a video of a performance of that, in Gord's memory: https://youtu.be/48HQwU-VhyE

Thank you Elizabeth. It's so terribly sad that Gord had to pass away so young. I will always think of Kurt in connection with The Tragically Hip. I know he is good friends with them. :cry:

Kurt paid a quiet tribute to Gord and "the hip" by wearing a Tragically Hip t-shirt during the CBC broadcast yesterday.
