Walsh and Michaud End Partnership
August 5, 2022/by Skate Canada

OTTAWA, ON: Evelyn Walsh, 21, London, Ont., and Trennt Michaud, 25, Trenton, Ont., have ended their pair partnership. They teamed up in 2016 and represented Canada internationally throughout their partnership.

Walsh and Michaud began their career together winning the 2017 junior national pair title and would go onto win three silver medals at the senior national championships. Their best international placement at the senior level was a bronze medal at the 2022 ISU Four Continents Championships.

“Although earlier than I envisioned within my skating career, I am stepping away from the sport that I love. I wish to thank the current and past members of the National Team for their ongoing support and to all other individuals, especially Trennt Michaud and Alison Purkiss who significantly impacted my career,” said Walsh.

This September, Walsh plans to continue her university studies. Michaud plans to continue skating and will search for a new partner.

Lia Perreira, who has been having a successful in a singles career, and Trennt Michaud tried out as pairs partners and "clicked". They have already had success so far this season, despite a late start. They won 🥉at Golden Spin & Canadians, finished 4th at 4CC & now are heading to the World Figure Skating Championships as part of the CDN team.

Here is an interview with them done after their free skate at 4CC:

'A team for everybody to be excited about'
There is no place Lia Pereira and Trennt Michaud would rather be than on the ice together, chasing big dreams as an up-and-coming Canadian pair team that is just getting started.
Editor’s note: The following story is based on a series of interviews done back in January. It was meant to appear in an issue of International Figure Skating Magazine several months ago, but sadly the owner and publisher of IFS passed away suddenly at the end of February and that publication is no more. I have decided to share it with readers in this space and, outside of a few minor tweaks, it is being presented in the manner in which it would have appeared in the magazine. And to the people interviewed for it … sorry this took so long!
Update at the end of the article:
On June 28, Pereira and Michaud learned they had received two senior Grand Prix assignments for the 2023-24 season. They will be Canada’s lone pairs entry at the Series opener, Skate America, from Oct. 20-22 in Allen, Texas. They are also scheduled to compete at the Grand Prix de France from Nov. 3-5 in Angers.
