Canadian medallists headline the 2022 Skate Canada International – ISU announces line-up for Grand Prix events
July 22, 2022/by Skate Canada

OTTAWA, ON: The International Skating Union (ISU) has announced the line-ups for four 2022-2023 ISU Grand Prix of Figure Skating events. Canada will host the second stop on the circuit, the 2022 Skate Canada International in Mississauga, Ontario, from October 28-30, 2022, at Paramount Fine Foods Centre.

The line-up in Mississauga will feature current Canadian champions Keegan Messing, Madeline Schizas, Piper Gilles and Paul Poirier. They will be joined by various current and former world medallists including Shoma Uno, Rika Kihira, Gabrielle Daleman, Lilah Fear, Lewis Gibson, Riku Miura and Ryuichi Kihara and more!

Skate Canada International is the second competition on the annual International Skating Union (ISU) Grand Prix of Figure Skating series. The other events take place in the United States (Skate America), France (Internationaux de France), Great Britain, Japan (NHK Trophy) and Finland.

Each skater/team can be assigned a maximum of two events. Skaters are awarded points based on their placements at their events. The top six from each discipline (men, women, pair, and ice dance) qualify for the ISU Grand Prix of Figure Skating Final.

I don't see Jason Brown in the line up, I know I have been out of the loop recently, have I missed anything?

Jason has not announced his retirement and continues to skate and perform but he is giving at least the 2022/23 GP season a "miss". He has recently been performing in shows in Japan and doing some coaching in Peru :)

Aww, that's too bad. I love to see him skate, but can imagine how he would thrive on on dazzling the spectators in shows.

He has been named as a competitor for Team North America (I believe) in the upcoming Japan Open.

As we've come to expect, there are changes to the entries in the various GP events as they draw closer. There are rules around the elapsed time prior to the event, after which no more changes are permitted.

The latest "grids" of entries, by discipline, are now available from the ISU Grand Prix page: https://www.isu.org/figure-skating/even ... re-skating

There continue to be some withdrawals, some "switch arounds", and there are still some host spots to be assigned, for example the CDN entries in Pairs for Skate Canada International. I expect we will get those after this week's high performance camp.

I have put streaming and TV schedule information about the GPs in the thread for such information - there is information for both Canada and the USA but our access to the latter is limited to NBC TV coverage.
