As was posted in the overall thread for ISU events for this season, the Four Continents Championships (4CC) was relocated to Tallinn, EST and will take place following the European Championships. With this being an Olympic season and with the restrictions in place regarding travel to Beijing (due to the pandemic), it is anticipated that some of the countries will be sending their "second team" to the 4CC event.



Most of the countries who participate in this event have named their team members, following their national championships, and submitted the names to the ISU to meet today's deadline. Traditionally, Canada and the USA are given permission to wait until after their senior nationals which will take place during the first week of January.

Some countries (e.g. China) have chosen not to send skaters to an event so close to the Olympics but for others, like Australia, they have designated this as the last chance to determine their Olympic entry/entries.

Practices will take place Tuesday and Wednesday with the competition taking place Thursday through Saturday and an exhibition scheduled for Sunday.

Unfortunately, it appears that Wesley Chiu has withdrawn for some reason as he is no longer on the entries list dated today:


Edited to add: It's being reported on Twitter today (19 January) by one of the many skating news & photos sources (Anything GOEs) has received notification from Skate Canada that Wesley Chiu withdrew from #4ContsFigure due to a member of his coaching team testing positive for coronavirus.

I understand that at least some of them also had challenges flying in to Tallinn, like the Canadians.

Former Canadian ice dancer Pascal Denis is a member of the coaching team at I.AM in Montreal - he was in Tallinn for Europeans and has remained there for Four Continents. I.AM teams competing include Lafond-Fournier/Kam (NZL); Harris/Chan (AUS); Lauriault/Le Gac (CAN); and Carreira/Ponomarenko (USA); Sales/Wamsteeker (CAN). The last two teams train at I.AM in London with Scott Moir who is also in Tallinn.

The commentator on the ISU feed is Chris Howarth from the UK - he often works together with Simon Reed, who commentated for the European Championships, on British Eurusport.
