You will notice that the Russian entries have not yet been added - they will be determined following Russian Nationals which begin tomorrow (Dec. 22nd) - see separate thread.


As a reminder, the Four Continents Championships will follow Europeans at the same location from Jan. 18-23, 2022.

It has been announced by the French Federation that Papadakis and Cizeron have decided not to compete at Europeans but to concentrate on remaining healthy to compete at the Olympics, their ultimate objective.

There are a lot of withdrawals from Europeans and some replacements named. Some are said to be due to injury and some to + tests/illness.

NBC TV schedule indicates that will broadcast the "men's and women's free" on Sunday from 4-6 p.m. - as usual, "check your local listings"

As you see from the detailed time schedule, available from the Start Orders/Results link, Nikolaj Majorov, withdrew from the Men's competition. This was due to a positive virus test.




There were also withdrawals and replacements with alternates in the Pairs.

Qualification rule: The best 24 skaters after Short Program will advance to the next segment.

Last day of competition with medals to be awarded in two events.



Testing for the COVID has been done rigourously and throughout the competition with not only competitors but also coaches & officials. There have been a number of positive results, causing withdrawals. It appears that ice dance coach Barbara Fusar-Poli is among the latest to be put into quarantine - she was very busy yesterday with a number of teams in the rhythm dance

Next week the same facilities will host the 4 Continents Championships.

Katerina Witt joined the broadcast team for the German Eurosport coverage of the Women's event from Tallinn.

Their 4th place finish in the ice dance resulted in the confirmation of Olivia Smart & Adrian Diaz, who train at Ice Academy Montreal (I.AM), as the entry for Spain in the Olympics. They had been required to participate in 3 specific international events and to have a total score higher than their compatriots, Sara Hurtado & Kiril Khaliavin. Sara was Adrian's previous partner, by the way.

Some of the medal winners will not participate, perhaps related to positive tests among skaters and coaches. According to a news report, coach Barbara Fusar-Poli had two negative tests after her initial positive and was allowed to leave Estonia.

I have seen official media advisories from the ISU of 14 positive test results among skaters, coaches, officials, and accredited media between January 11th & 15th. Those who tested positive must remain in quarantine in Tallinn for, I believe, 10 days if no symptoms and 14 if they have symptoms. If, like coach Fusar-Poli they retest (twice) as negative, they are/were apparently allowed to least ASAP.

I've just watched the first half of the Gala and there were some "no shows" - #6 & #12 who apparently cited injuries as the reason.
