Nik Sorensen is now a Canadian

This is where we discuss figure skating and skating related items. How did you favourite skaters perform, and so on? However we never speculate on the private lives of skaters, like who might be going out with whom, because that is poison and is not tolerated here. A good guideline is that if it's not publicly announced, in the papers etc. then it's probably best to leave it alone. Is it a gray area? Then write to me and ask.

Nik Sorensen is now a Canadian

Post by Elizabeth »

This news means that he is now would be eligible to represent Canada at the Olympics with his ice dance partner Laurence Fournier Beaudry - they previously represented Denmark. They train at I.AM with Marie-France & Patrice.

They are excellent, Fred - their ISU biography: http://www.isuresults.com/bios/isufs00014665.htm
They were unable to participate at the Olympics previously as it was not possible for Laurence to get Danish citizenship.

They missed a season competing within Canada as Nik had to have surgery on his leg.

Here's a sample of one of their memorable programs: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UDucbvZ4c1s

Their first free dance at Canadians (after the move from Denmark): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zZiyhooy5mM

They are certainly good skaters. Despite what the commentators are saying about the flamingco number, i thought it wasted a lot of the beats in the middle part. Apparently it was Shae Lynn's choreography and I'd expect more from Shae.
When I saw Jaime & David for the first time, before they had won even Canadian's, I was floored at how good they were. I don't get the same feeling from this Dance Couple. Maybe I'm just getting old. Anyway, I've got things to do and Falafel to fry for a late night snack.
All the best. -- Fred
