It is possible that there will be some live streaming provided by Skate Ontario - no further information on that yet.

It seems there is no shortage of talent coming up in the ranks - good to see. You will be there, Elizabeth?

I am volunteering at the Admission Desk Thursday, Friday and Saturday. I hope to get to see some of the skating but one never knows how that will work out.

Skate Ontario is quite clear that only two rinks will be streamed, I'm afraid.

Thanks for the info. Elizabeth. I understand although it's a bit disappointing. It would be hard to afford too many cameras I'm sure. Well, the way I look at it it's a lot better than a few-several years ago when the skaters looked like pygmies.

Are there any stand-outs that I should be watching for? There sure are a lot of girls in the pre-novice Ladies.

I suspect the issue may be more related to operating three simultaneous live feeds from the same venue.

I watched the short programs of just one group of pre-novice ladies before starting my volunteer shift and that was in the Scotiabank rink - I knew one of the young ladies, the daughter of the organizer of our skating travels I'm going in early again today to see the free skates of that same group.

I see several familiar names in the junior and senior ranks - those competitions begin today and I'm hoping to see some after my shift ends. There are, of course, lots of familiar faces among the coaches and even the odd one among the parents.

The weather outside yesterday was very hot and humid with some downpours in the evening. I suspect that contributed to the rink fog - I wasn't in that particular rink yesterday.

Ok, thanks for your on-site thoughts! It's unfortunate the novice men SP was not shown as that's a very good event. The others are too of course but it's just that it's one of the best events in terms of skill.

I'm going to be watching HEO this morning and afternoon and will therefore get to see some of the Men's events hopefully.

I enjoyed watching the middle-end of the men's SP this morning. I like Conrad Orsel and Joseph Phan. Both have the skill but are not too arrogant. Steven Gogolev was good as always, but I don't see the artistic side coming through yet, probably due to his age. Nice new haircut! Wasn't he going to join senior this year? I don't know how I got that impression, but maybe due to his age Brian decided he isn't quite ready. Also, I noticed that although Joseph is at a Quebec rink he still has Brian for a coach. I found that interesting and that's good that Brian is so flexible with that. I'm sure there's another story behind that and probably you know Elizabeth.

If you were watching this morning it was the Junior Men's FS. I was in the rink watching

Stephen completed senior within Canada last year. This year he is finally old enough to compete as a Junior internationally and he is therefore competing Junior in preparation for his first Junior Grand Prix assignment.

Joseph gets his funding from Quebec so he has to represent a Quebec club regardless of where he is training.

I haven't watched anything, but am wondering Elizabeth if I should make the trek over to Richmond to see Stephen at the Jr Grand Prix? Or any other skaters you think might warrant the trip?

Off topic any rumours of Charlie having any Prs tryouts?

As I've posted in the JGP thread, the ISU has not yet posted the entries for the 4th JGP which will be in Richmond, BC.

I heard nothing about tryouts, Judy. Most people think that Juliane's multiple concussions and the impact on her ability to practice "full out" were probably a factor in Charlie's assessment of their inability to progress. They also felt that she was out of shape at the end of last season.

Skate Canada had a monitoring session for the junior and senior ice dancers following their free dance competition yesterday.

Based on the results, there have been some international assignments handed out including these new pairings:

• junior silver medalists Alicia Fabbri & Paul Ayer to the first JGP
• junior 5th place finishers Ashlynne Stairs & Elliott Graham to the third JGP
• junior 6th place finishers Irina Galiyanova and Grayson Lochhead to the third JGP

[the bronze medalists already had an assignment to event #2]

I understand that the junior gold medalists are not yet eligible to represent Canada internationally as Yuka Orihara has not yet received all the releases necessary (she previously skated for Japan).
