The Japanese Government today announced that two-time Olympic champion Yuzuru Hanyu is to receive the People’s Honour Award at a ceremony in Tokyo on July 2nd. He is the first figure skater and, at 23, the youngest ever recipient of the award which was established in 1977 and has previously been given to 25 individuals and 1 group.
