Quite a different style from "Speedy"!

Interesting indeed it seems the is a ray of hope if all these goals are being pursued and implemented. Especially the TV coverage!

I was particularly pleased to see the mention of fans

My sense at Worlds was that the ISU still has very little regard for the fans who actually attend events.

The rink in Milan was one of the worst. A very old facility, very uncomfortable plastic seats, extremely steep stairs, poor location, junk food, and on it goes. As we had access to a "VIP" area and entrance I can't comment on the washroom situation line-ups etc.

Other issues, the music volume and constant noise. The comment was made more than once that it was like being at a rock concert. Flashing strobe lights at ice level during the exhibition were terrible. You didn't see them on tv as they were only on one side. And I'd add, because the event is crowded into four days and the QF round is gone, the days were very long. We didn't attend any practices but usually had at least 12 hour days.

That said, the Italian Federation put on well above average opening and closing ceremonies, we saw some great skating and it was a very supportive crowd.

In general I think that the ISU is trying to attract a much younger crowd. That's fine, but at those ticket prices not many young people can afford to attend.

Because decisions about Worlds are made several years ahead of time, I would suggest that the acceptance of that facility in Milan might have been a "parting gift" from "Speedy" (that notably proud Italian) who I noticed was in attendance.
