The official announcement has been made in Japan and a news conference was being held.

As Jackie Wong tweeted:

Kana Muramoto/Daisuke Takahashi have retired. It was a short-lived partnership, but one that saw the great 高橋大輔 take on a brand new discipline with 村元哉中 being his brilliant partner along the way.

Daisuke competed in the World Team Trophy twice, in two difference disciplines, and won medals both times - as a single skater (on the gold medal team in 2012) and as an ice dancer (on the bronze medal team in 2023)!

A quote from Daisuke, who is now 36 years old, at their press conference:

“The biggest factor was that I felt the limit in my right knee. I felt that my body couldn’t keep up with the technical aspects of achieving level of competitive performance.”
