ISU European Championships - Espoo, FIN - Jan. 23-29

This is where we discuss figure skating and skating related items. How did you favourite skaters perform, and so on? However we never speculate on the private lives of skaters, like who might be going out with whom, because that is poison and is not tolerated here. A good guideline is that if it's not publicly announced, in the papers etc. then it's probably best to leave it alone. Is it a gray area? Then write to me and ask.

I'm sure many of us remember when these two were competing representing Italy (and her "death stares") - these days they are both successfully coaching (and she has a very busy stop watch in hand). In Espoo her team was on the top of the podium and his was in the bronze position :)

Here's the man who provided all the excellent commentary from Espoo - I found his enthusiasm and knowledge excellent and his commentary not overwhelming. Informative but not overpowering the skating :)

Christopher ("Chris") Howarth is a British former competitive figure skater. He is the 1981 British national champion and competed at the 1980 Winter Olympics in Lake Placid, New York, where he placed 15th in the Men's event. He is a commentator for British Eurosport, as well as a skating coach and assistant general manager at the Glacier Ice Arena,in Vernon Hills, Illinois. He has also worked for the Dutch Figure Skating Association.

You might remember his team-mate who took the gold in Lake Placid - a fella named Robin Cousins :D
