Stupid Question but just wondering......

This is where we discuss figure skating and skating related items. How did you favourite skaters perform, and so on? However we never speculate on the private lives of skaters, like who might be going out with whom, because that is poison and is not tolerated here. A good guideline is that if it's not publicly announced, in the papers etc. then it's probably best to leave it alone. Is it a gray area? Then write to me and ask.

Stupid Question but just wondering......

Post by CarolH »

Hi Ho Folks:
I tried to connect with the CBC Sports Live Broadcast for the Four Continents.
I know it is not on *just now*....but at 8.40 pm tonight.
However, I keep getting a message that says...."cannot connect to this BROWSER".

Does this mean it can't connect "just now" because it's not 8.30 pm?
Or does this mean whatever *Browser* I have won't work?
I use GOOGLE.....will that not work? Should I change it for the broadcast
or will it *MIX-UP* (I'm being polite) my entire computer system?

Carol - I normally use Firefox and have never had a problem BUT you can't connect to the live stream broadcast until it is actually LIVE.

This should be the link for the 8:30 PM EST live broadcast: http://www.cbc.ca/sports/video#id=1141033027590

If you go to that link now you should see an image of Thomas Williams & Sarah Arnold who will be competing in the short dance. If you click on the play/forward arrow now, however, you will get the message about not playing on your browser - that's because there is no stream to play. It should actually work at 8:30 p.m. or just a few minutes earlier as 8:30 is when the first warm-up group will be introduced.

By the way, you should be able to have more than one browser option available on your computer - Firefox, Internet Explorer, Edge, or Chrome (which is part of Google) should all work, I would think. You just have to choose one of them as your "default" browser.

Hope that helps?

CBC Sports had some technical difficulties so we missed seeing the first three dance teams. That has now been corrected. The second warm-up group is on the ice.

Thanks for your help Elizabeth.
I tried at 8.30 and had the same problem as before....commercials came through beautifully, but
the show only played for 5-10 sec. and then another commercial would start or the screen would freeze.
So I downloaded Google Chrome, and tried again and had success. I've been watching the Short Dances.

Wish I could stay awake long enough to see Dylan and Lubov.....got my fingers crossed for wonderful final
competition from them. I've always thought they were terrific together *except* for *something*. Their
programs were always beautiful because of their wonderful choreographers.

CBC Sports should put the video up for viewing after the event. Since Luba & Dylan are skating last you should be able to advance it to their skate :)

Yes. I did that and went to the last pair and that's exactly what I found. I'm so glad that they keep those videos there after the event. It makes seeing things from around the world easier. If I can get some sleep this afternoon/evening, I may try to stay up for the 10:50 pm showing tonight, but I have been somewhat tired of late.
