Medvedeva??
I believe it is this week that Medvedeva is competing in a smaller Russian competition against Tuktemyshva (sp?) to determine the third and final spot for this year's World Championships. Does anyone know more about this, and if it will be streamed or viewable?

Re: Medvedeva & Russian Cup
I understand that the final determinations for the ladies representing Russia at Worlds will depend on results here. The other disciplines are less significant in terms of results but may determine some funding, assignments, etc.
Russian Cup information (in Russian):
Start orders: https://t.co/p4ePiRoxoi?amp=1
Schedule: https://t.co/TGwlhFIhlx?amp=1
Live Stream: https://t.co/kKBj8Yotwc?amp=1
Website: https://t.co/l0ue4r0ia4?amp=1
I'm told that the Chrome browser will translate the names (more or less). I haven't tried it.
I believe the time is 8 hours ahead of EST.

Awesome! Looks like the women will start at 11am (my time). Her practice looked very calm and controlled. Hope she is able to hold it together here and show what she's truly capable of.

Evgenia Medvedeva
3F3T, 2A, 3Lo
TES 39.81, PCS 37.08, SP 76.89 into 1st

Trying to quiet the cheering/chanting of her name, just before the marks came out (Tuktamysheva was waiting to skate]

I think the bear will be too large to bring back to Toronto
[I was right - Evgenia autographed one of the bear's paws and then it and the other toys were donated to an orphanage.]

She did indeed! She really appears to be understanding the power of the audience after her return for Russian Nationals and is interacting with them.

Tuktamysheva is likely not at 100% after suffering from pneumonia.

Re: Medvedeva & Russian Cup
Evgenia won the competition but it was based on her lead from the SP. This is how close it was - 1.71 between top 2:
Medvedeva SP 76.89, FS 146.01, TOTAL 222.90
Tuktamysheva SP 72.21, FS 148.98, TOTAL 221.19

RCF 2019 | LADIES
Evgenia MEDVEDEVA - 222.90
Elizaveta TUKTAMYSHEVA - 221.19
Viktoria VASILIEVA - 208.75
Stanislava KONSTANTINOVA - 206.67
Anastasiia GUBANOVA - 206.22
Anna Tarusina - 205.27
7 Anastasia Gracheva - 191.45
8 Maria Talalaykina - 190.94
9 Anastasiia Guliakova - 189.40
10 Elizaveta Nugumanova - 184.03
11 Serafima Sakhanovich - 179.57
12 Alena Leonova - 171.29
Now.... what will the authorities decide about their 3-member team for Worlds? Tatiana Tarasova is promoting Medvedeva and, of course, Mishin is promoting Tutkamysheva. Who will go to Worlds? Will they both go with someone else, already announced (Sofia & Alina), being dropped to alternate status? Will one of these 2 be alternate?

From Jackie Wong on Twitter:
I don't know the exact criteria Russia uses for World team selection, but they do look at the entire season - and you have to believe that the all-aroundness of Tuktamysheva's season over Medvedeva's will play a big role even with her narrow loss today
The announcement should be made within a few days....That said, we've seen Russia use the most recent competition as the determinator for spots. Just not sure how clear-cut this whole Worlds team selection will be.

Re: Medvedeva??
What a squeaker!! Yes, Tuktamysheva (sometimes) has a triple axel, but the rest of the skating is very ordinary, and the program and choreography are weak compared to what Medvedeva is putting out. I have no idea what they will do.

How lovely and emotional. I guess we have adopted another "foreign" skater as our own -or at least I did
Also think it is such a nice gesture to hand those flower crowns to the winning skaters (and coaches). I saw some audience members doing it at the GPF in Vancouver. Isn't figure skating wonderful and full of surprises?
Happy weekend, Heini

Yes, and like Javier before her, Evgeni will be skating in the Stars on Ice tour in Canada this year.
