International Single & Pair Skating, Ice Dance and Synchronized Skating Competitions 2021/22 - UPDATE re: 4CCs

This is where we discuss figure skating and skating related items. How did you favourite skaters perform, and so on? However we never speculate on the private lives of skaters, like who might be going out with whom, because that is poison and is not tolerated here. A good guideline is that if it's not publicly announced, in the papers etc. then it's probably best to leave it alone. Is it a gray area? Then write to me and ask.

Note that changes may be made due to public health issues. Updates to the overall calendar will be reflected here: www.isu.org/events

The ISU Council met remotely on June 3rd and will next meet again remotely on July 16th - the decisions from the most recent meeting are in this document: https://www.isu.org/inside-isu/isu-comm ... -2395/file

I'm keeping my fingers crossed for competitions to actually occur this season!

The ISU Four Continents Championships (4CC) originally scheduled to take place in China are now "up for grabs" according to this press release from the ISU: https://www.isu.org/media-centre/press- ... ation/file
ISU Four Continents Figure Skating Championships 2022, Tianjin/China – cancellation/relocation
The ISU was informed by the Chinese Figure Skating Association (CFSA) of the cancellation of the ISU Four Continents Figure Skating Championships, that was scheduled to take place from January 17 – 22, 2022 in Tianjin (CHN). Unfortunately, considering the complicated epidemic situation involving travel restrictions, quarantine requirements, safety concerns and logistical challenges, the organization of the event was extremely challenging. The CFSA, the Local Organizing Committee and Tianjin Municipal Government tried their best to find solutions but ultimately concluded that, regrettably, they are unable to organize and hold the 2022 ISU Four Continents Figure Skating Championships.

The ISU regrets that the hosting of these Championships is no longer possible in Tianjin and thanks the Chinese Figure Skating Association for their efforts and cooperation. In order to maintain the Event and allow the Figure Skaters of the Four Continents ISU Members to compete in this Continental Championships, the ISU invited interested ISU Members to send applications to host the Event on the originally planned date (January 17 – 22, 2022).

Considering the applications received, the ISU Council will take a decision during its forthcoming
meeting on October 1, 2021.

From the latest ISU Council meeting (held Oct. 1-2, Geneva) decisions document: https://t.co/kvW8aPRamd?amp=1
ISU Four Continents Figure Skating Championships 2022
The ISU was informed by the Chinese Figure Skating Association (CFSA) of the cancellation of the ISU Four Continents Figure Skating Championships, that was scheduled to take place from January 17 – 22, 2022 in Tianjin (CHN). The Council subsequently invited ISU Four Continents Figure Skating
Members to send applications to host this Championships. No applications were received.

After consultation with the Estonian Skating Union, the Council decided to hold the Championships during the week following the ISU European Figure Skating Championships in the same venue. The Council therefore provisionally realotted the Championships as follows: ISU Four Continents Figure Skating Championships to be held in Tallinn, Estonia tentatively on January 18-23, 2022.

The definite allotment will be confirmed as soon as possible once all logistical and financial details have been agreed upon with the Estonian Skating Union.
