ISU Junior Grand Prix - 2017/18 - OVERVIEW

This is where we discuss figure skating and skating related items. How did you favourite skaters perform, and so on? However we never speculate on the private lives of skaters, like who might be going out with whom, because that is poison and is not tolerated here. A good guideline is that if it's not publicly announced, in the papers etc. then it's probably best to leave it alone. Is it a gray area? Then write to me and ask.

This season's JGP encompasses 7 events with the Grand Prix Final taking place in conjunction with that of the senior GPF in Nagoya, Japan in December:
  • Gdansk, Poland - Oct. 4-7 - entries (no link yet functioning)
The first event is now complete and the results can be found at the link above. The standings, by discipline and by nation can be found from the links here: http://www.isu.org/en/single-and-pair-s ... re-skating

If entries are not yet available, they will be added as available at the sites above, as will links for the schedule and results.

All of the events are being live streamed using the ISU JGP YouTube channel: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCbv3gs ... Ct2JGySfJA
There is archived video available there too.

Skate Canada usually posts news articles about the Canadian participants & results - check here:

There is only one event left in this season's Junior Grand Prix - it will take place in Italy later this week. It will determine the final qualifiers in three disciplines for the JGP Final in December. The standings in pairs have already been finalized with a Canadian pair among the official alternates: http://www.isuresults.com/events/jgp2017/jgpspairs.htm

Check the current standings in the other three here:

I've been thinking that the JR GPF won't look much different than Russian Nationals.
I hope the SR GPF doesn't follow suite. To me, it is sad when we see one or two countries dominating all events.

With the men finished in Italy, here are the qualifiers for the Junior GPF: http://www.isuresults.com/events/jgp2017/jgpsmen.htm
Six qualifiers - 3 from the USA, 2 from RUS, and 1 from JPN with a CDN as the first alternate (after losing the tiebreaker for 6th spot).

And now the official results for the ladies: http://www.isuresults.com/events/jgp2017/jgpsladies.htm
Of the 6 qualifiers, we have 5 from RUS and 1 from JPN!!

That means that 15 of the 24 qualifiers for the Junior GPF will represent RUS, unless an alternate slips in
