ISU cancelling meetings & seminars over the coming months

This is where we discuss figure skating and skating related items. How did you favourite skaters perform, and so on? However we never speculate on the private lives of skaters, like who might be going out with whom, because that is poison and is not tolerated here. A good guideline is that if it's not publicly announced, in the papers etc. then it's probably best to leave it alone. Is it a gray area? Then write to me and ask.

On March 12, 2020 the ISU Council decided to cancel a number of meetings and seminars that were due to be held in March, April and May 2020.

Due to the continued and increasingly negative Coronavirus/COVID-19 developments, the Council has further reviewed meetings and seminars scheduled to be held between June and August 2020 and decided to cancel all meetings and seminars planned during the period until the end of August 2020.

A rescheduling of the above-mentioned meetings and seminars will be evaluated once the situation again allows the planning of safe travel. The possibility of rescheduling some of the meetings and seminars online is also currently under assessment.

For the 2020 ISU Congress scheduled to be held in Phuket, Thailand on June 8-12, 2020, separate communication will follow shortly.
The full list of cancellations follow the quote above.

I have to wonder about the impact on the Junior Grand Prix which normally would begin in August.

Stay tuned and STAY HOME!

Separate communication about the 2020 ISU Congress: https://www.isu.org/isu-news/news/65-is ... teParam=15
Considering the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic and the continued negative developments world-wide, the ISU Council has concluded that maintaining the 2020 ISU Congress on the planned dates of June 8-12, 2020 is no longer an option. The same applies to a short-term postponement until later in the summer of 2020. The ISU Council has instead considered a postponement of the Congress to June 2021, if possible to be held in Phuket/Thailand.

The postponement or cancellation of the ISU Congress 2020 requires a 2/3 majority vote from ISU Members who have therefore received the a letter from the ISU President and ISU Director General and the ISU Council consequently asks ISU Members to cast their vote between the following 3 options:
  • Postponement of the 2020 ISU Congress from June 2020 to June 2021 with the exact date and place to be decided by the Council with preference to be given to Phuket, Thailand. In this case no ISU Conferences at ISU Championships will be organized during the 2020/21 season.
  • Definite cancellation of the 2020 ISU Congress
  • Abstain
The ISU Members have until April 6, 2020 to vote.
