Re: 2019 BC SummerSkate participant injured; parents killed
For those wondering about the connection to this thread, Saskatchewan skater Alanna Liu and her parents were returning from her participation in the BC SummerSkate when they were involved in a fiery automobile crash in Southern Alberta a week ago. It involved 3 semis and 7 passenger vehicles. Her parents were two of the three individuals killed. Alanna was among those injured.kittykins wrote: ↑Tue Aug 27, 2019 11:52 amOh nooo....I'm so sorry to hear about this awful tragedy

The post on Facebook from Skate Canada - Saskatchewan referenced in the article:
A Go Fund Me has been established: https://www.gofundme.com/f/q6fs2-fffA Tragedy in our Skating Community
The entire skating community is in mourning as we learn about the tragic vehicle accident in Southern Alberta that claimed the lives of three people and injured many more including members of the figure skating community. Saskatchewan skater Alanna Liu was involved in the accident and is currently being treated in hospital for her injuries. Sadly, her parents who were traveling home with her from the BC SummerSkate competition have passed away. Skate Canada and Skate Canada Saskatchewan are heartbroken and grieve with those who have lost loved ones in this horrible accident and our thoughts are with Alanna and her family and friends, and all those affected as they cope with this tragedy.
We ask that you respect Alanna’s privacy as she works through the loss of her parents. Further details will be made available through the Section Office.
