Expect a full house at this event! The entries: http://www.isuresults.com/events/fsevent03111605.htm

Among the entries are Evgenia Medvedeva and Yuzuru Hanyu who, of course, train at the Cricket Club. It will also mark the return to competition of Weaver & Poje.

Medvedeva's programs for this year were revealed about a month ago:
SP: Orange Colored Sky, by Natalie Cole
LP: Yo Yo Ma 'Mumuki', Libertango

Weaver & Poje's programs (as revealed at this week's Skate Canada High Performance Camp):
RD: Libertango
FD: “SOS D’Un Terrien,” as a tribute to Denis Ten

Yuzu has now revealed his program music for this year: SP: “Otonal” (previously skated to by one of his idols, Johnny Weir); FP: “Origin” (an arrangement of the “Tribute to Ninjinsky” program by another of his idols, Evgeni Plushenko).

More on his FP from: https://english.kyodonews.net/news/2018 ... ctice.html
Yuzuru Hanyu said Thursday he wants to return to his figure skating roots as the two-time Olympic champion previewed "Origin," his free program for the upcoming season.

"The beginning of my skating life, the origin -- I want to skate while feeling like I did when I first began," Hanyu said in a practice at his training base in Toronto.

Hanyu showed off three types of quadruple jumps for the media -- a toe loop, a Salchow and a loop -- as the 23-year-old ramps up his efforts to become the first figure skater to successfully land a quadruple axel in competition.

Although he hasn't landed the 4-1/2 turn jump yet, the Japanese star appeared fully recovered from the right ankle injury he suffered in training last November.

"I'm skating now while thinking about how to strengthen my skating and get better," Hanyu said.

"Origin" features songs used in routines by Russian legend Evgeni Plushenko and American Johnny Weir, skaters Hanyu admires. He said he chose the music in order to "get back to enjoying skating, to slide while feeling like I'm doing it for myself."

Hanyu won his second consecutive gold medal at the Pyeongchang Olympics in South Korea earlier this year after becoming the first Japanese male skater to win gold at the 2014 Sochi Games in Russia.

In July, he became the first figure skater and youngest individual recipient of the People's Honor Award in Japan.

They are currently "testing the system" during the men's practice - unfortunately, they are only using one fixed camera up in a corner of the stands which limits the detail one can see.

There will be a live stream for the men's practice beginning at 8:15 EDT Saturday morning. The order will be based on the FS start order: https://lamp.skatecanada.ca/results/2018ACI/SEG002.HTM

The start order for Saturday's first event, the free dance: https://lamp.skatecanada.ca/results/2018ACI/SEG008.HTM

I had heard that, due to "popular demand", arrangements were being made to award the men's medals on the ice tomorrow, rather than off-ice as had been planned for all disciplines. The schedule has now been changed to reflect this.

In the meantime, I'm happy that the tornado/tornadoes in the Ottawa-Gatineau area didn't get near my house and I'm not one of the 147,000 or more without power.

Whoops, missed this! I'm glad all is well. I'm afraid I've been a bit disorganized with watching this weekend. My painting contract is now done but my head has been spinning.

One young man who was "hyped" by Ted Barton before the FS was Kevin Aymoz FRA - Ted was right and I'm really looking forward to seeing him live at Skate Canada International!!

I'm glad Roman did so well. I didn't see the SP and so saw Jason Brown's haircut for the first time. It looks good and will certainly help him not to be recognized in public. I was never a fan of the ponytail, but I guess a lot of his fans really liked it.
