He’s trying to take his boot problems and minor injuries into account as he figures how best to set himself up for the rest of the season. “It’s a pretty normal thing for me to have this kind of thing before nationals,” he said. “It’s not the ideal thing before nationals, but it seems that it happens every year. The beginning of the year has been kind of rough with all these injures. I have to cool myself down after nationals to really give myself the time and the energy I need to go full steam before worlds.”

He says the injuries are pretty minor, and he just has to make sure he does not overwork himself, “just making sure I can manage my health and just control it and see where it takes me,” he said.

Alysa Liu returned to competition this year after a 2-year "retirement". Danielle Earl, who is in Wichita doing photography for USFS, had this comment:

In my opinion, Alysa has the best short program of the season. It's a fantastic package (song/choreo/performance/emotional impact) to come back to the competitive world with. Good on her and her team.

Merle wasn't up to attending the Press Conference but Evan accepted some adulation


They are tied with Merle Davis & Charlie White.
You might remember that Evan skated for many years with Emily Samuelson finishing as high as 2nd in the US Sr. ice dance championships. They competed at the 2010 Olympics in Turin, Italy. If Madison & Evan get to the 2026 Olympics, it will be his fifth!
