Members of US figure skating community died in Washington, DC air collision/Legacy on Ice Tribute show March 2nd

This is where we discuss figure skating and skating related items. How did you favourite skaters perform, and so on? However we never speculate on the private lives of skaters, like who might be going out with whom, because that is poison and is not tolerated here. A good guideline is that if it's not publicly announced, in the papers etc. then it's probably best to leave it alone. Is it a gray area? Then write to me and ask.

For those unable to attend "Legacy on Ice" in person, there is now word that it will be available in broadcast form - first on Peacock and then on NBC:

I see that People magazine has a feature on the lives lost in the tragedy.

In honour of his parents, Max Naumov skated to Город, которого нет (The City That Isn’t There), one of his dad Vadim’s favorite songs and a song that his parents "slow-danced" to whenever it was played.

The first photo was from the rehearsal earlier in the day; the second was at the end of his performance

It was an incredible performance and he was supported by Jimmy Ma and Alisa Efimova & Misha Mitrofanov (also from the Skating Club of Boston) in following up with a group skate to Ave Maria.

I'm sure there were no dry eyes among those watching

Hope Animal-Assisted Crisis Response dogs were present at the event - Amber Glenn had to pull away from Zoey, the Golden Retriever, to get on to the ice for her number. which opened the show.

The white roses that had been laid on the table with the candles were deposited at centre ice and the skaters formed a heart around them in the finale

Final bows - a few of the hosts were not in skates and stood on the carpet

Unfortunately, the USFS has now made their video of the tribute "Private" and it is no longer viewable.

A reminder that it is scheduled to be shown on NBC TV at 1 p.m. EDT on March 30th.

Oh, that's what happened! I'm part of another Board (not skating related) that has a skating thread and there were 2 videsos that said they were no longer viewable. That is rather bizarre to say the least. I would like to see Maxim skate but was only able to see highlights of his performance. I can't imagine what he's going through. I know another gentleman who lost his parents in a plane crash when he was 17. He became a lawyer and married, but the grief, especialliy during such formative years, never left him as he wasn't close to any other family members and was an only child. I hope things will be easier for Maxim. Fortunately he has the skating community!
