ISU Challenger #5 - Finlandia Trophy - 4-8 October - Espoo, FIN

This is where we discuss figure skating and skating related items. How did you favourite skaters perform, and so on? However we never speculate on the private lives of skaters, like who might be going out with whom, because that is poison and is not tolerated here. A good guideline is that if it's not publicly announced, in the papers etc. then it's probably best to leave it alone. Is it a gray area? Then write to me and ask.

OTTAWA, ON (October 2, 2023) – A total of 12 Canadian skaters will make their way across the pond this month to compete at two ISU Challenger Series events. Eight skaters will be representing Canada at the Finlandia Trophy from October 4-8, 2023 in Espoo, Finland, while four additional skaters will be taking part in the Budapest Trophy from October 13-15, 2023 in Budapest, Hungary.

Canadian Champions and ISU Four Continents Figure Skating Championships silver medalists, Laurence Fournier-Beaudry and Nikolaj Soerensen, will be headlining the ice dance competition, while 2022 NHK Trophy bronze medalists Brooke McIntosh and Benjamin Mimar will be serious contenders in the pair discipline.

In the singles events, both 2023 Canadian Tire National Skating Championships bronze medalist Fiona Bombardier and Gabriel Blumenthal will be showcasing their new programs for the first time this season.

Results of the Pairs SP:

From Brooke McIntosh / Benjamin Mimar 🇨🇦
“We lost some points on the table but we are happy in general with our first outing of the season.
We had a bit of minor injury and thus started the season a little later. We also a great time here last year and we will also do the GP here, so it’s great to get used to the place.
Our new SP is a new style for us it was fun to perform it for the first time and we will hope it will grow over the season!”
