2019/20 Challenger Event #6 - Finlandia Trophy - Oct. 11-13

This is where we discuss figure skating and skating related items. How did you favourite skaters perform, and so on? However we never speculate on the private lives of skaters, like who might be going out with whom, because that is poison and is not tolerated here. A good guideline is that if it's not publicly announced, in the papers etc. then it's probably best to leave it alone. Is it a gray area? Then write to me and ask.

2019/20 Challenger Event #6 - Finlandia Trophy - Oct. 11-13

Post by Elizabeth »

The entries have now been posted online with a planned full participation by Canadian skaters. Will this actually happen, especially since no substitutes were named? Only time will tell :)

Skate Canada's press release about the CDN team going to Finlandia: https://skatecanada.ca/2019/10/eight-ca ... ia-trophy/

Gabby Daleman has missed much of the pre-season, apparently due to the ongoing impacts of the collision in warm-up at the team competition after Worlds.

There will be a paid stream

I enjoyed that skate. they were well syched, except for that sit spin and it seemed to be a very fast death spiral at the end. It was exciting.

Well that was definitely an improvement over the last outing! Good to see a triple twist here, and a much more dynamic lift (love the exit). I think the lines match very well, but there looks to still be a bunch of work to do - triple toe under-rotated, and throw not very high OR far across the ice, but in general, I now think they have a much brighter future than I previously thought. Looking forward to seeing what the long program is like.

And it continues now, broadcasting the men's freeskate. I guess someone figured out how to hack and re-stream the live broadcast!

I was actually able to rewind the video while the ice resurfacing was being done for the last group of men. I watched Lubov & Charlie's FS. There was one amazing lift that showed off Lubov's Cirque du Soleil training!!

Two events of the competition done and two CDN medals ;)

Yes - I am solidly on board with this team now!! The LP itself was absolutely beautiful choreographically, and while some elements are still developing, I can see what potential is really there. The throw triple loop was out of this world, and the lifts are going to be something to talk about. Good for them. Can't wait to see this at Skate Canada. Here's the video link:
