2019/20 Challenger Event #1 - Autumn Classic - Oakville, ON - Sept. 11-14

This is where we discuss figure skating and skating related items. How did you favourite skaters perform, and so on? However we never speculate on the private lives of skaters, like who might be going out with whom, because that is poison and is not tolerated here. A good guideline is that if it's not publicly announced, in the papers etc. then it's probably best to leave it alone. Is it a gray area? Then write to me and ask.

The ladies SP start order/results link: https://skatecanada.ca/2019-autumn-clas ... 555a14e21b
It may not be "live" - we will have to wait and see.

The link for the DailyMotion stream in English: https://t.co/ex8j95kmVz?amp=1
There is a separate French stream https://t.co/4Z6TP9qxHr?amp=1

I understand that Meagan Duhamel will be doing some of the commentary. This, of course, is taking place at the club where she and Bruno now coach.

Confirmed! The commentating team for the English channel Image

As I think you will see from this photo, there was a lot of fan excitement at the return of Yuzuru Hanyu to competition ice today for his first official practice at ACI.

In other news, he is keeping both his SP and FS from last season although there may be some new jump combinations/layouts.

A skater himself, he has done a number of amazing on ice videos with various skaters.

Often at medal ceremonies, those who are on the podium are given flags by members of the audience as they do their "skate around". In Oakville they left the hockey "glass" up so it wasn't possible for that to happen. After the "traditional" skate round, Keegan decided they could use the flags that had been set up behind the podium - the others picked up the hint and they had an impromptu flag parade/race, much to the delight of the audience!!

There was a moment at the medal ceremony that has impressed many and demonstrated what a truly good person Keegan Messing is. The national flags were set behind the podium rather than in view of the skaters as would be normal. When the Japanese anthem began, Keegan reached back and unfurled the Japanese flag; Yuzuru stepped off the podium and turned to face the flag to show his respect.

Image

Aren't we glad that Keegan represents Canada!!

These are the same flags that they used for their "skate around", instigated by Keegan, after the ceremony.

By the way, apparently he and his coach are now officially part of the Ice Palace club in Edmonton (at the West Edmonton Mall), where Ravia Wallia is, and where Kaetlyn Osmond trained.
