Skate Ontario - Sectional Series - event #2 - North York - Aug 15-18, 2019

This is where we discuss figure skating and skating related items. How did you favourite skaters perform, and so on? However we never speculate on the private lives of skaters, like who might be going out with whom, because that is poison and is not tolerated here. A good guideline is that if it's not publicly announced, in the papers etc. then it's probably best to leave it alone. Is it a gray area? Then write to me and ask.

The senior women short program is now underway and, in the first warm-up group it was announced that Gabrielle Daleman "has not registered".

There were serious problems with the live stream this afternoon, meaning that I was not able to watch the senior women (Gabrielle Daleman withdrew/didn't register) or the first 1/2 of the junior men. :(

Despite the problems, here are some videos posted on YouTube from the Senior Men:
Keegan's SP: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nJFY36Kam20
Nam's SP: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hUxu2FNelsM
Conrad Orzel's SP: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jyJSmEY ... dex=2&t=0s
The protocols from the Senior Men: https://skateontario.org/results/19S2/1 ... nSPDRO.pdf

There are also some rhythm dance videos available on this playlist from the same person: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=P ... lymer=true

In Pairs the same person has these videos -
Moore-Towers Marinaro SP: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2v7qaEcBzrs
Walsh -Michaud SP: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BA41q8LHZEk
Andrew-Daleman Junior SP: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UgzxkI8PoWY
McIntosh-Toste Junior SP: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_9zUzlUpBwE
Carle-Farland Junior SP: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H5IJwLV3uQI

That's too bad! Thanks for the links. I was out and about yesterday, but hope to take in some today. Dailymotion was a good choice for the live streams as it can also be watched on older systems. My Vista laptop is a much better computer than my Windows 10 one, and I don't lose the stream nearly as much. However, Windows Vista is not compatible with YouTube or anywhere else for live streaming, only DM. I still use the Windows 10 because then I can watch it on my TV, but I use the other one as back-up or for the scoring. Who knew skating could get so techie eh?!

Keegan's SP was very touching and such an appropriate song for a newlywed...aw...He did such a good job of it. It made me think how on earth do people survive or cope when they lose a spouse! He really portrayed the deep love he has for his wife...wonderful and I'm so happy for them!

And THIS is "Thornhill"!

Is there any word why Roman withdrew?

Is it just me or are the sound and picture on different streams? I've got the picture further along than the sound. Unfortunately I missed Michelle Long's FS. I'll try my old laptop for the Novice Men and see if I get a better stream before giving up completely I guess.

Skate Ontario are telling me that it is a "satellite/venue" problem with the live stream - it started out fine this morning and then "went south". They are frustrated and hoping to get it fixed again....

Here are the Unofficial Results of Senior Women FS before I lost the stream completely - it was totally out of sync for the last 2 skaters I saw:

1. Michelle Long 104.2 Total - 154.96

2. Olivia Farrow 87.99 Total 138.2

3. Kaitlyn Sims 57.18 Total 86.63

4. Ashley Goodliff 57.18 Total - 83.55

5. Kirstie Snider New Hamburg SC ON 37.02 Total - 55.96

Final 2 skaters - results unknown: Emma Dinde; Kylie Tait

Thanks for the info. It seems to be working now as you will know, although I had to refresh it a little while ago. Fingers crossed for the Dance and Men! I have this old laptop on now which ridiculously works better than the new one. :? :? I would NOT recommend Windows 10 or ASUS to my worst enemy (if I had one, haha). The old one is HP...may go back to that brand next time.

The issues with the live stream are at the competition end not at the receiving end.

By the way, I have a laptop and a mini-laptop (which can operate as a tablet, if desired) both of which are Windows 10; the mini is an ASUS while the other is an older Dell. I have had no problems with either the operating system or the brands. Obviously everyone's experience is different.

Thankfully, the stream has worked just fine for the junior and senior free dances :)

Elizabeth, I think I got a lemon. I'm very glad your experience has been better. Windows 10 is known to be a problematic program. Fortunately there is now Windows 11 which I hope is an improvement. I could go on and on about all the issues I've had with Windows 10, only to go online and find these glitches are common and solutions are offered that aren't that effective. I have had to restore the computer several times. I won't grieve you with those and thankfully you are doing okay with yours. Knock on wood, things are going better. I will try Dell or HP next time I think. On the other hand my desktop is also ASUS and it has been fairly good.

Wow, those last 2 men in the juniors are fantastic!! Mark has perfect line...wow! Looking forward to the Senior Men...whoo hoo!

There is no Windows operating system that has been safe. A marginal increase in safety can be had by switching to Linux. Anyone who is serious about protecting their data has switched to Linux, and spent some time securing it. Long cryptic passwords help . Encrypting your disc helps.
Each successive release of Windows is worse than the one before it, So don't expect Window$ 11 to fix your problems.

I haven't had time to see any of the skating. I may be finally moving into an apt. and I'm scurrying around to everything clean so the landlady, ( a very nice woman), can show the apt. and take pictures so prospective tenants can see what it looks like on-line.
Got to run.
