ISU Challenger Series - 2017/18

This is where we discuss figure skating and skating related items. How did you favourite skaters perform, and so on? However we never speculate on the private lives of skaters, like who might be going out with whom, because that is poison and is not tolerated here. A good guideline is that if it's not publicly announced, in the papers etc. then it's probably best to leave it alone. Is it a gray area? Then write to me and ask.

Yes, I've been watching him for several years. Both he and his sister compete and under difficult conditions regarding funding, etc.

That's great! It's too bad they have such difficult training conditions! Sometimes the countries you least expect have skaters that rise up in the ranks. Israel is an example of a country that has had many talented skaters especially over the past few years that have seemed to rise up suddenly. Even Spain with Fernandez...who would have expected it?!

Danielle Earl has once again provided a time conversion for this weeks' event: Image

Here's the link for the entries by discipline: http://www.isuresults.com/events/fsevent03111455.htm

This is supposed to be the link for the official live stream: https://t.co/3r0m1XgEcS It will apparently be free on Friday but there will be a charge for the remainder of the competition.

Here is the Skate Canada article on the Canadians competing in the Finlandia Trophy, including Lubov travelling on her Canadian passport for the first time : https://skatecanada.ca/2017/10/canadian ... n-finland/

Here's the link for the Schedule/Entries/Results: http://www.figureskatingresults.fi/resu ... /index.htm

Videos from the Finlandia Trophy 2017 are being uploaded to these channels quite quickly:

There is a delay in the middle of the men's free skate - a fire alarm has gone off and the building has been evacuated and the fire department has arrived. The 10th skater of 18, Li of CHN, had completed his program and awaits his scores outside the building.

If these are "results" it's totally absurd.

For many of the skaters they are their rankings/standings based on the combination of their total scores from two Challenger events from this season. For some, however, it is only the score from one event in which they have participated (so far) - for example, Kevin Reynolds has only the score from his 11th place finish at the Finlandia Trophy(186.36).

A reminder about the rationale behind these events, as I posted at the beginning of this particular thread:
This series of 10 events provides an opportunity for skaters, especially those not participating in the Grand Prix events, to earn the technical scores necessary to participate in ISU championship events such as Europeans, Four Continents and Worlds. One of the events, the Nebelhorn Trophy, is also the only opportunity for countries to qualify for the last remaining spots in the Olympics.

Some skaters take advantage of one of the Challenger Series events to get their programs out before the International judges, even though they may also be participating in one or more GP events later in the season.
For the top 3 in each discipline, at the end of the 10 events there is prize money involved, as you will see here: http://www.isu.org/figure-skating/figur ... ger-series

By the way, according to the official announcement, skaters/couples may compete in up to three of the 10 competitions with their two best scores being counted.

The final Challenger Series event of this season is the Golden Spin of Zagreb.

Entries in each discipline are here: http://www.isuresults.com/events/fsevent03111484.htm

Here is the results page: http://sharp-jackson-2e11d8.bitballoon.com/

This is perhaps the last opportunity for skaters to get the minimum TES numbers needed for ISU championship/Olympic competition.
