ISU Grand Prix FINAL 2018/19 (Senior & Junior) - Vancouver, BC - Dec. 6-9, 2018

This is where we discuss figure skating and skating related items. How did you favourite skaters perform, and so on? However we never speculate on the private lives of skaters, like who might be going out with whom, because that is poison and is not tolerated here. A good guideline is that if it's not publicly announced, in the papers etc. then it's probably best to leave it alone. Is it a gray area? Then write to me and ask.

Apparently the Junior GPF events will also be streamed on the ISU Junior GP YouTube channel with Ted Barton. He just announced that Meagan Duhamel will be joining him on Thursday.

ISU story on Meagan Duhamel (& Eric Radford) - she is their special guest/reporter for the Junior Grand Prix coverage on the JGP YouTube channel: https://www.isu.org/figure-skating/figu ... teParam=15

She's coming directly from New York where she and Eric performed at the Bryant Park Christmas tree lighting.

Danielle Earl's time conversion from Vancouver to Toronto - especially useful if you're watching a live stream...

[The men's FS should be A.M. not P.M. as it's after midnight :) ]

Tony Wheeler & PJ Kwong do a preview of the senior GPF: https://youtu.be/3gl2fA2IOQQ

PJ's preview for CBC Sports: https://www.cbc.ca/sports/olympics/figu ... -1.4932239

Apparently PJ will be joined on the seniors live streams by Asher Hill (dance) & Dylan Moscovitch (pairs) in addition to Liz Manley - she mentioned this in the preview with Tony Wheeler.

Another debut of my music today! If you’re at the #gpf for the opening ceremonies you will get to hear my new piece. Would appreciate any reports on how it sounds in the big arena!

The CBC website adjusts to your timezone, I believe, Fred.

The competition is taking place in Vancouver - 4 hours behind AST; 3 hours behind EST.

Check the Entries/Start Order/ Results page which is in PST (Vancouver time) for today's events: http://www.isuresults.com/results/season1819/gpf1819/

Three members of the board not only attended the GPF but were seated side-by-side in the arena - definitely a good event. I also got to meet two other board "lurkers" who approached me and kindly thanked me for all the information I post

Oh, that's nice. I'm on a push to finish my book and don't have travel time or money, but I'm glad board members are getting together for events. Hi to all.

Ted Barton apparently reported that Alina Zagitova twisted her ankle before the FS and she confirms it in this interview:

Do you think that might have impacted the results of the ladies event?

From what I remember (and that is still sketchy from all the excitement of being there live) her skate did not seem to be hampered by an injury. She is a spunky woman, but it is worrisome that the skaters try to skate at any price through injury which might come back to haunt them later on. See Yuzuri.
I am still so happy I attended this event and making new friends, including board members and "lurkers".Thank you All. Hope to attend more of those competitions in the future.

It was great to spend time with you again, Heini, and I certainly hope we can do it again sometime :)

In other skating news following on from the GPF, Elizaveta Tuktamysheva is reported to have pneumonia and will be hospitalized for 2 weeks; missing the Russian Nationals!!

Meagan Duhamel, in addition to providing commentary with Ted Barton, was busy being an ISU interviewer at the GPF:

That is too bad for Elizaveta Tuktamysheva, especially missing their Nationals. It is such a competetive field. I read an intereview with Alina Z. where you could read between the lines how "friendly" or not these women are among themselves. Sorry, it was on my cell and I have no idea how to post it here.
