This is an "off week" for the juniors but there are two Challenger Series events taking place - see the relevant thread for information on them.

There are actually three events happening this weekend - only one is a JGP event, of course. This image gives you the time zones for all three:

Re: ISU Junior Grand Prix 2017/18 - events
Thanks. It's interesting that there are no Canadians competing in Junior Men at this competition. I've sort of lost track of these events, sort of out of sync, but hopefully there will be some live streaming of say the Autumn Classic.
Editing to say here's the link: http://www.dailymotion.com/video/x60qkns I have no idea what CEST means in terms of the time. Perhaps they mean eastern time?

Re: ISU Junior Grand Prix 2017/18 - events
For this week's event, the Canadian team only includes ice dancers and pairs, as I mentioned above. I believe that the Junior Grand Prix has rules about entries just like the GP does. In addition, Skate Canada has criteria regarding skaters qualifying to compete internationally - some of those pertain to results in summer qualifying events.kittykins wrote: ↑Tue Sep 19, 2017 11:57 pm Thanks. The livestream link you've posted here pertains to the Autumn Classic which starts on Thursday. That is part of the Challenger Series not the JGP
The Ondrej Nepala Trophy is also part of the Challenger Series as noted in the thread on that topic. Normally, CEST = Central European Summer Time

Re: ISU Junior Grand Prix 2017/18 - events
I enjoy Joseph Phan's skating and presence on the ice. It's too bad he didn't land the quad at the beginning. I was actually so shocked he didn't as he really is so strong. Now I think it was said he won't be able to qualify for the Grand Prix final?

Re: ISU Junior Grand Prix 2017/18 - event#5 - Zagreb, CRO
Canada's Joseph Phan won his first JGP medal today - the silver medal in his second event in Zagreb:
He was 4th in the first JGP event of the season, earning 9 points. With the 13 points for his silver, he has a total of 22 points with 2 more events yet to take place. It might be possible for him to make the final but there are definitely several men who already have 11 to 15 points and who have yet to skate in their second event. The men's standings are here: http://www.isuresults.com/events/jgp2017/jgpsmen.htm
The only man who has definitely "punched his ticket" to the Jr. GPF is Alexei Krasnozhon of the USA who has won two events with the maximum of 30 points.
Links to all of the information about the JGP can be found here: http://www.isu.org/figure-skating/figur ... re-skating

Canada will be represented at the Jr. GPF in ice dance - with their win in Zagreb, Lajoie & Lagha have "punched their ticket". The 2nd place Russian team will join then in the Final.

Thanks for the explanation Elizabeth! Joseph has a bright future I'm sure.
