I just saw the planet "Christmas star" yesterday. I found it quite neat. Although they aren't as bright apparently, they are still visible in the SW at sunset until about 7:00 p.m. CT. Saturn looked reddish to me and Jupiter was the bright star. Here is a picture from my sister's phone:
