This is where we discuss figure skating and skating related items. How did you favourite skaters perform, and so on? However we never speculate on the private lives of skaters, like who might be going out with whom, because that is poison and is not tolerated here. A good guideline is that if it's not publicly announced, in the papers etc. then it's probably best to leave it alone. Is it a gray area? Then write to me and ask.
Thanks for posting this. I always find it interesting to see so many names of medalists whom I have never heard of, or seen on the international stage.
Spain [From International Figure Skating magazine via Facebook]:
The 2018 Spanish Olympic team has been announced. Javier Fernández, Felipe Montoya and Sara Hurtado and Kirill Khalyavin are heading to PyeongChang.
"Fernández, who will go to his third Games, this afternoon won, for the seventh time in a row, the men's title with a score of 288.30. Javier Raya was second (213.72) and Montoya (210.95), third.
Montoya got the Olympic spot because his accumulated score from the Championships and Golden Spin was higher than that of Raya.
In ice dance, Olivia Smart and Adriá Díaz won the event (167.77), silver went to Hurtado and Khalyavin (164.54), and bronze to Celia Robledo and Luis Fenero (146.43).
By technical decision of the Spanish Federation of Ice Sports (FEDH), Hurtado and Khalyavin (who earned the most points at nationals and Golden Spin combined, which was the deciding criteria) will compete at Europeans and the Olympic Games, while Smart and Diaz will compete at Worlds. It is a measure to reward the equal and excellent level of both duos, as well as to try to maximize their options in order to get places for the Grand Prix next year."
