More breaking news....
Anyone watching the pairs practices will have noticed a music/program change for Duhamel & Radford. They have brought back "Hometown Glory" to replace "Muse" - this is the program they used at Worlds in Boston. Obviously they feel this will serve them better.

It was indeed a very special moment to be part of. One of those times when you and the rest of the crowd members are "spun out of their seats" before the skater's final spin is even completed.

Overall, for those in attendance, yesterday was a good day in a cold arena with some ups and downs and a special moment or two.

Was anybody watching form home? Thoughts?

I'm watching from home. Had to pay for all those TSN sports channels to do so. Skate Canada obviously didn't negotiation a contract with CTV that actually required CTV1 to broadcast the skating.

Comments
Men
So happy for Balde. What a joy to watch, even on TV. Glad you were there to see him live Elizabeth. All fingers and toes crossed for a clean long. Loved Keegan too.

Women
Wow, Gabby! TSN Didn't show Tamara of course.

Pairs
Haven't seen D&R live yet this year, but there is definitely a softness to Meaghan this season I've not seen before. Is it noticeable live Elizabeth?
Oh, Luba......

Dance
Oh,Andrew.... Tracy Wilson repeatedly mentioned how much they have improved, unfortunately we didn't see that.
I'll be chastised, but I thought Scott spent too much time skating with the judges rather than Tessa.

Wow, that's awful! :o I was thinking yesterday that in many ways she reminds me of Elvis Stojko because of her mental toughness. Now I know why.

What a week!

I hope everyone was able to watch at least some of the competition on the live stream and/or the TV broadcast.

Just back from the Gala - some special moments in it too - the top 5 in each discipline plus the Athlete Ambassador (Shae-Lynn) skated. I hope CTV/TSN shows it soon - I know Rod & Tracy were in the arena commentating so they should, it's just a matter of when and where.

The latest on Canadians from PJ Kwong: http://www.cbc.ca/sports/olympics/figur ... -1.4487167

I had a chance to speak to PJ last evening at the hotel and again this morning at the airport. She is excited to have been engaged to provide announcing services at the upcoming Olympics, something she has done at numerous Olympics. I told her that I miss her commentary on Bravo for full events - she said she does too!

Sorry to sound ignorant, but what is "Bravo"?

Sorry, I mistyped - I was, of course, referring to BOLD. It was a specialty cable channel that was, for a time, part of the CBC network - they provided the full live ISU stream of their skating competitions for which PJ Kwong did commentary (in a Toronto studio) - it was on TV, and could be recorded. CBC sold the channel and I think it is now called "Cottage Life". As I recall, PJ's commentary was recorded by the ISU as an English sound track that could be provided to countries who wished to broadcast later with commentary in their own language but who didn't have experienced skating commentators.

We all know how "analytical" Meagan Duhamel is - here is her blog entry about participating in her final Canadian championships: http://www.lutzofgreens.com/canadians-reflection/

"Analytical all right" - she is such an emotional person as well. This was my first look at her web-site and I am quite intrigued with some of her recipes. I am by no means a Vegan, rather an "I eat anything" kind of person but still. I wonder how she manages to maintain the website and do all the things she does outside of high level skating. Wishing her and Eric the best of luck for their last Olympics.
