Gilles & Poirier - Loving Vincent (Van Gogh), Govardo & Starry Night

This is where we discuss figure skating and skating related items. How did you favourite skaters perform, and so on? However we never speculate on the private lives of skaters, like who might be going out with whom, because that is poison and is not tolerated here. A good guideline is that if it's not publicly announced, in the papers etc. then it's probably best to leave it alone. Is it a gray area? Then write to me and ask.

Gilles & Poirier - Loving Vincent (Van Gogh), Govardo & Starry Night

Post by Elizabeth »

Bev Smith writes about the evolution of their free skate for this season (and their future) and the collaborating musicians - it' well worth reading.

Bev tweeted a link to her article and said:
Vincent, a most remarkable free dance from Piper Gilles and Paul Poirier, will be seen at Skate Canada in Laval, Que., next week.

Oh, how beautiful, even though it was only their first performance they had me in tears. It can only get better from here. Can't wait to watch them improve during the Grand Prix season.
Thank you Elizabeth for always finding these gems for us to enjoy.

A pre-Skate Canada International interview with Gilles & Poirier: https://europeonice.com/2018/10/23/gill ... -material/

They talk about last season, the death of Piper's mother & grandmother, and this season which began for them in Oberstdorf.

Here's a TSN video where Piper and Paul talk about her late mother, Bonnie: https://www.tsn.ca/figure-skating/video ... ty~1523574

It was beautiful for sure!

Coach Carol Lane was among those in tears. She posted this photo on Twitter - taken after she "mopped herself up".

Amazing. Beautiful! He really reminds me of Scott Moir, and the synchronicity seems almost up to Tessa & Scott. What really gets me is that they are still coming up with new moves and lifts at a time when I thought just about everything had been tried or done before. Just wonderful!

Glad you enjoyed it, Fred! It was great when I saw the live stream of the performance from Oberstdorf but it just goes up a level seeing it live, live :)
