ISU Challenger series 2018/19 - 10 events - August-December (see also Event #5 - Autumn Classic in Oakville, ON)

This is where we discuss figure skating and skating related items. How did you favourite skaters perform, and so on? However we never speculate on the private lives of skaters, like who might be going out with whom, because that is poison and is not tolerated here. A good guideline is that if it's not publicly announced, in the papers etc. then it's probably best to leave it alone. Is it a gray area? Then write to me and ask.

The results after the Ladies SP: http://www.figureskatingresults.fi/resu ... SEG005.HTM

The protocols: http://www.figureskatingresults.fi/resu ... Scores.pdf

The leader landed a triple axel in her program today - with a slight bobble on the exit and a reduction in the base value since last year (from 8.5 to 8), it only earned her 7.73 pt.

That was nice. Has she landed the 3X before, I mean without a bobble,... (i.e. cleanly)?

She has been landing them recently in practice and, I believe, in test skates in Russia.

The Rhythm Dance was carried out under somewhat bizarre conditions this morning - there was yellow confetti falling from the ceiling repeatedly; the referee actually had to stop some programs and they had to do an extra resurface between the 1st & 2nd groups. In addition, there was a bird flying around, apparently it was a Blue Tit and some viewers gave it high marks for speed and flow as it flew past the judges :D

The situation has not been fully corrected and the pairs FS is about to begin!

Apparently there were no confetti "issues" during the pairs FS. That's very good news.

Tarasova & Morosov skated a new SP here, having received less than complimentary response to their program at the Russian test skates. The efforts on that over the past 10 days seem to have had a negative impact on their free skate which was skated better at the test skates than today.

What a lovely, sweet skate for Veronik Mallet. She started off with very precise movements and lost them towards he end, but since she's been off with an injury she can't be expected to have full conditioning. I expect she'll get stronger before too long and that'll be something for her... and the rest of us to watch.

It is so nice to see her back competing and doing so well - we need some good news in the CDN senior ladies area going forward.

Note that Aurora Cotop is no longer competing but Roman Sadovsky is.

The ISU has noted that the pairs competition is not considered a "Challenger" event but an international competition only as the minimum number of entries for Challenger Series was not reached.

Who wants to see β€œVincent” again in one week? You can! P2 are off to Golden Spin in Zagreb. Thanks Skate Canada for making this happen. And thanks to everyone who has sent such wonderful messages of support, we skate for youπŸ’•πŸ’•πŸ’•πŸ’•βœ¨βœ¨βœ¨βœ¨
Their names are now on the entry list, as updated today. The names of Brasseur & Bardei no longer appear among the pairs entries.
